Solved! my toshiba laptop wont turn on or boot up

my toshiba satellite laptop wont turn on

i have read the tips here and basically nothing works.

Battery is in and laptop is plugged in and i try and turn it on. The power button comes on and then a red light and then it dies. The battery is newish and the adaptor is new so it isnt them.

...since i wrote the above the red light wont even come on now

any advice or is it a new laptop

With what you tried already, likely a dead motherboard.
