So I gave my friend this Toshiba Satellite laptop to repair it's keyboard.

I cannot connect through wifi, it says my laptop is on a broadband connection but I have an X icon on it.

I've checked and they only way to connect to the internet is through ethernet.

Also, when I view network properties it says that my
Ethernet Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller is "Not Operational"
Qualcomm Atheros AR9485 Wireless Network Adapter is "Not Present"
Microsoft Wi-Fi Direct Virtual Adapter is "Not Present"

Why are both of my wifi adapters "Not Present"?

Solution
sounds like your friend disconnected the wi-fi adapter inside ther laptop or wasn't careful and damaged it. same could be said about the problem with the keyboard
