My TV has a digital audio out but my home theatre system has only avi output

I need to know what I can do because my TV use digital audio out but my home theatre system has only avi

Make sure that you can set the TV to output in PCM stereo. If not then you need to get one that specifies that it accepts 5.1 bitstream digital audio.
Check the TV manual on how to turn on the audio output. You may need to turn the TV speakers off too.
