My usb ports are not working

I have had a recently problem that has gotten progressively worse where the usb ports on my hp laptop do not recognize anything plugged into them. Is there a solution to this problem?

Try going to HP's support website, select your model, and then do a chipset update. Updating the chipset helps to jumpstart the USB controllers. If that doesn't work, there may be something amiss hardware wise.
