Hey guys! I wanted to build my own gaming PC but I have a $1400 budget. I want my pc to be more gaming related than anything. But here are some parts I want to include.

Intel i7 4790k
Astro A40 headset
Z97 Mobo(with SPDIF for Astros)
Dual BenQ Monitors
Nvidia GPU

Thanks for your time!

Is there a reason for the i7 over an i5?

A 4790K is ~$360 while the i5 4690K is ~$250. Most games won't take big advantage of HT or the 0.5Ghz difference between them and in a $1400 build incluing dual monitors - that $110 would make a big difference in GPU performance (which is needed more for 2x 1080P)

I would also drop the Astro A40 (for now).

The $200 for the headset can better be spent to upgrade parts in the initial build with the headset being purchased later. If you include the headset now, you have to compromise on other parts (CPU/GPU/Mobo/Ram) to meet the budget, and later would have to remove a "good" part to make room for a "better" one. Much more cost effective to get all "better" internal parts now plus a cheap headset and replace the headset later.

This also has the advantage of leaving you with a spare set of headphones.

While people are saying drop the A40's , I'm leaving it in because it is your computer and if you want Astro's why shouldn't you be allowed them? On a $1400 budget they are accomplish able. However if you need to cut costs, the first I would recommend cutting would be the Astro's.
