need a recover disc as HDD has died I have a toshiba Satellite C50 win 8.1

reovery disc needed I bought Toshiba Christmas but only started using about 1 month ago & HDD died yesterday they say I have to buy a recovery disc for £30.90 surley not?

You didn't follow up when it told you to make recovery discs/USB drive when first setting up the computer. Kind of like backups; you can't really do it after the fact.

wow really helpful guys, since I was only using my computer for 3 weeks I didn't expect the darn thing to up and die on me so fast! surely if I'm entitled to it I should be able to get it back on, not being computer lit, can I create one from my PC which has win 8.1 & use that when the unit comes back with a new HDD, I share all info on my laptop & PC so will be all the same stuff of does that just not work?

If it's only three weeks old, take it back under warranty. It's their responsibility to replace the hard drive and Windows on the hard drive.
