I know this is Toms "Hardware"...but I post here frequently and trust the other people that post here. Trying to find a business software forum was not successfull so I came here to old reliable.

I have an estimate form from my friends auto shop and he wants to xfer it to the pc.......I was thinking a spreadsheet would work but I am not sure that is the answer...plus I am not sure some of the guys that work there could get past anything more than point and click.

Any suggestions for a program that creates forms, possibly very much like a web page with drop down menus allowing the user to select the make/model etc. instead of having to type it?

Failing that, any idea where I might ask this question elsewhere?

Thanks

There is this software called OmniForm where you can scan forms in and make them editable on the computer.

OmniForm 5.0 is the best-selling personal forms management software. It enables an individual to quickly turn paper forms into digital forms, or to create new digital forms from scratch. OmniForm 5.0 comes with a complete set of pre-designed templates to facilitate the creation of new forms.

Thanks for the info tho cuz the software does look like the right way to go, have you or anyone else used it?

I hate s/w piracy but man I am tempted here :) jk s/w piracy is not the answer....smacks to all who think it is.

thx again

Whoa, thats a lot but thats for the premium version. The regular version is $150 so maybe that might be more the one for you.

Yah, too bad no trial version for you to try before you show your dough.

gotcha.....I tried selecting the standard version and it kept taking me to the Premium version.....I will look harder for Standard version.

Also, since $700 is kinda rich for my blood, I have checked out a program called "SmartDraw". This software seems very similar to OmniPage except it does not allow you to scan in forms, you have to make them from scratch. This s/w has a free trial period and to purchase it is only like $70

Only problem with the s/w is that it does not support using formulas in the cells. I do not know if Omnipage supports formulas but this I what I think is missing.

Guess they really want people to buy the premuim. This link will list the price of both products. If you plan on buying maybe search else where. Amazon has it listed at $116.98!

They do have a web board so maybe you can post some questions there. Its hard to evaluate a product when there is no trial or demo. Maybe you can find someone with it or download a warez version to try before you buy.
