New $499 projector coming in Jan 07, replacement lamp $30!!!

DenGuru has got to check this out. Lumenlab Home Theater Store is coming out with the EVO V1.1 projector.
Here are the specs.
Resolution: 800×480 native, supports 800 x 600 or 1024 x 768
Lamp replacement cost: $30.00
Lamp: 6,000 hour 150W HID
Inputs: Component, AV, S-Video, TV (coax), VGA (PC)

The biggest reason I didn't want a projector was the lamp replacement cost and frequency. This deal sounds too good to be true. I wish Denguru would have an article on it. Some have said the contrast ratio is weak. I don't know. Contrast Ratio: 600 ：1

Sounds like crap.

They don't mention any vital stats like:

Contrast

Lumen output

Scaler

and it has no digital connection; DVI or HDMI

The one year warranty is shat.


If you want a theater like picture look at these:

If you want a 480p projector look at a Optoma H31 or a Infocus in72 (replaced the legendary 4805). Both are about $600-700...and high grade.

But the best bang for the buck right now is the Optoma HD70 at $999. 720p DLP with great performance and digital connections.
