Hey everyone! I'm looking into getting a gaming laptop. I have a gaming desktop that is about 4 years old (runs a Gigabyte GTX 770), and it's barely able to play games at full setting now. I'll update some components at a later date but for now I want to focus on a gaming laptop. I like the portability of a laptop and that the GTX 10 series cards really narrowed the performance gap to a desktop. My main questions here are: what brand laptop is the "best", would picking a model with a GTX 1070 be good enough for gaming, and is a 17. 3 inch screen better than a 15.6 inch screen?
The three brands i've been concentrating on are ASUS, GIGABYTE, and now ORIGIN.
The ASUS ROG GL502VS-DS71 looks solid, the GIGABYTE P57Xv7-KL3 also has good reviews but I don't know how reliable they are. Lastly I've been looking into ORIGIN because they have some great customization options but once again I'm not familiar with them. My budget is around $2000. Has anyone had any experiences with Gigabyte or Origin? I really cant find a lot out about Origin but the have some great options to customize a rig.
Onto the GPU, I really want something with a GTX 1070 because it looks like it can run what i play fairly well. I would love a GTX 1080 to help "future proof" the laptop but those are pretty expensive. I like playing TOTAL WAR games, especially Warhammer and Rome 2, and Paradox games like HOI. Will the GTX 1070 be able to run Warhammer on max settings? ( My desktop GTX 770 does a pretty decent job already but everything isn't on max).
Lastly, I know this is more of a personal opinion, but what is a better screen size? I play my desktop games on a 24 inch ASUS monitor so the 17.3 inch screen would be the closest to that size. A lot of the 15.6 inch laptops come with G SYNC though which does help with gaming.
