Hey there. So my computer is falling apart. Think it's the processor and I am done with it (been trying to fix this old pile of parts since April). So I decided that I should buy a laptop (rather than a new PC).

I would mainly use the laptop to code at my university (studying computer science), render videos every now and then, maybe watch some shows (hook it up to my monitor). I would also game on it but I don't have time for serious gaming necessarily anymore. I would like it to run League of Legends on high at 60 fps all the time and other games like World of Warcraft, Guild Wars 2 and Counter Strike Global Offensive. I wouldn't mind if it can run games that just came out with everything on low but it must be at around 50 fps at least (I got dragon age inquisition on my origin account and I would like to play that)

My budget is 500 pounds, though I could go to 600 at most (would rather not).

I saw this laptop thus far http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/computing/laptops/laptops/hp-pavilion-15-p289sa-15-6-laptop-silver-10107489-pdt.html

Also I guess I could save some more (though I am really pissed about my laptop atm and get a http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00WBZEBNE/ref=s9_simh_gw_p147_d0_i1?pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_s=desktop-2&pf_rd_r=1WE3Z8VD3NWKTX8Q4ZWX&pf_rd_t=36701&pf_rd_p=577048787&pf_rd_i=desktop (the i7 17 inch one) .

What are your thoughts , or do you have any other laptops to suggest?

Thanks in advance for your replies :)

EDIT:

After I searched for a few more hours I found 2 other laptops which seems quite good :

I would love to get that but I think it's a bit above my budget. Also the i5 you posted is a bit more expensive than the i7 I posted. And note this computer will also be used heavily for coding at uni and only moderately for gaming.

EDIT: Just saw the graphics card difference. That explains it :)

The MSI you linked is 834.22, the one I linked was 760.19

One of us is not doing the math right if you think the i5 with the better card is more. 8 > 7.

For writing code, unless you are compiling a huge program or rendering video, an i5 is more than enough. You can write programs on a Pentium 4 in a text editor with no issues :)

The MSi i linked went up into price lol , it was cheaper earlier, like 742 quid. Also someone suggested : http://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/N550JK-CM531H-ASUS-N550JK-CM531H_1669293.html

But if you were to choose between the 3 cheap ones which one would you go for? I am leaning towards the asus atm. I'm probably gonna starve though and get the i5 msi T.T
