New laptop battery keeps shutting down

I have a Dell Latitude E6520. The Dell battery started experiencing reduced capacity, wouldn't run nearly as long on battery power, so I got a replacement battery (generic). The battery indicates that it charges up just fine, but when I run on battery power after just a few minutes - sometimes just a few seconds - it shuts down completely without warning.

I suspected the generic replacement battery was defective and got a different generic battery from another source, same result. Also had the first battery replaced by the vendor with another, same result.

I know generic batteries can be hit or miss, but three different batteries doing this? My original battery still works and does not shut down without warning, when it gets low I get the regular low battery alert.

Is there something other than crappy batteries that could be causing this, or do I need to suck it up and spring for a genuine Dell battery?

Solution
Finding quality aftermarket batteries can be tough. I normally don't like to recommend 3rd party suppliers but I've had very good luck with Anker batteries (AnkerDirect on amazon).

Sadly, it sounds like you will need to "suck it up and spring for a genuine Dell battery." Aftermarket/third party batteries are sketchy. I haven't tried Anker batteries; they may be worth looking into.
