New Laptop Battery - No Difference From Old/Broken One?

Hi gang,


I have a HPG5000 Laptop and the battery has been used for a very long time to the point where the maximum charge it will hold it roughly 35-40 minutes. I recently purchased a new battery from the internet but when I replaced the old for the new and fully charged the new battery, the maximum charge time is still around 35-40 minutes. Is this a case of both batteries being near death or rather a component inside the laptop itself?

Ok first fully charge your battery to 100% then make it drain all the way down until it automatically turns off itself.
Charge back all the way to 100% and tell me if the problem persists

Sorry for the late reply, after doing what you said the full lifetime of the charge was roughly an hour and a half. Still less than I expect from a new battery.

when you say an hour and a half is that when you leave the computer on idle or when you are web browsing and such. What programs were u using.

I left the computer mainly idle, say 10 minutes of browsing web pages. (Nothing too content heavy such as youtube, mainly forums/amazon)
