New laptop recommendations

My current laptop just broke (due to an accident) and I will probably have to get a new one as soon as possible, as I'm a university student and therefore need a laptop I can carry around. I really loved my old laptop, a Lenovo y500, which I got for around $800. Now I realize that due to hurry, I can't wait for a sale (like the one I got for the Lenovo y500)so I'm prepared to pay up to around $1,300 for a new laptop.

My main requirements would be at least 8GB of RAM, quad core CPU (pref i7, but I can setltle for i5) and a graphics card. I'm not so particular about battery life, as many of my classes have available power outlets and so my focus is mainly on preformance (I enjoy being on a fast computer, that runs smoothly with good graphic quality and no lag whatever I do).

I live in Canda, so I'd need a laptop that I can either buy in Canada or from a company that can ship to Canada. Any recommendations on reliable laptops would be awesome.
