New ram for acer slows it waaay down

So i have an Acer aspire laptop running windows 7 64 bit with 2 GB RAM. I want to upgrade RAM so I used newegg to determine that I should upgrade it to 8 GB ddr3 1333 PC3 10600 (4gb x 2 sticks).

I installed it, and upon firing it up, everything boots ok except that now the screen resolution is reduced and cannot be adjusted in display settings. Further, the machine is now waaay slower than it was with the original 2 GB ram. What gives? This is a matched pair of ram sticks, supposedly brand new and tested.

When i enter my system info on another ram upgrade site, it tells me to use ddr3 PC3 8500. Would this rating difference account for the problems I have with the 10600 ram? Can anyone straighten me out before I send this memory back?

Yes, that is the speed the ram is supposed to run at. You shouldn't get anything other than what the manufacturer says is compatible.
Send the RAM back, and get this from Crucial: http/www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148276

You need EXACTLY the same speed ram as was in it.....READ THE STICKER on the old ram...

Yeah, I'd read the old RAM sticker IF ACER HADN'T COVERED IT WITH A BARCODE STICKER WHICH TOTALLY MUCKED UP THE ORIGINAL STICKER AND MADE IT IMPOSSIBLE TO READ. THANKS ACER!!
