Question RAM Upgrade or get new laptop?

The laptop I'm currently using is the Acer Aspire E 15 E5-575-33BM.
Specs:
CPU: i3-7100U @ 2.40
RAM: 4 GB (DDR3?) SDRAM @ 2133

The purpose of me using this laptop has been for normal school stuff, but transitioning to video editing. I haven't done any on this laptop yet, but I'm sure it won't be as great as my desktop PC. Despite having only 2 cores, would a RAM upgrade to 8 GB of DDR4 help in any way? Or would the CPU be bottlenecking it?

You can't just talk about bottlenecks, it depends on the workload once you use it.

Yes more RAM will speed it up if you get another 4 GB and run it in dual channel. Yes a faster CPU with the same RAM will also speed it up.

Exactly what is better needs to be tested with the application.

If the system does not have a solid state drive, then replacing the drive will also help.
