Opened up my PS3 120gb today, also no HDMI cable...

Not that it mattered, I bought 10 4 footers from monoprice (any other online cable retailer will work) for $28. (thats 10 cables at $2.80 each).

Just make sure its HDMI 1.3a certified to 340Mhz (10.2Gbps) bandwidth, and you are just as well off as the $100 cables the big box stores will sell you.

$3 for gold plated connections. Not that you need them if you've ever seen the monster wire vs. coat hanger experiment....

What I'd like to know is how much of the XBOX360 customer base actually owns a TV with HDMI input. That could explain the decision.

Can't believe people are getting so worked up over a cheap cable though...

tell me about it. do people just think Monster makes HDMI cables? go to wallywaorld to get a 20-30 dollar HDMI cable. and there isn't much of a difference between component(RGB) and HDMI to begin with.

M$ is good at CATCH 22. Guess what this time!. Unless you have a AMP/receiver that support HDMI input to decode both the video and audio 5.1/6.1 DD/DTS you are going to spend an additional $50 on this that split the HDMI video for your 42 inch TV and audio through an optical 5.1 audio for your older receiver.
