Thanks for your replies in advance! If I need to add more information please let me know. I've been studying physics too long today.

My budget right now is between $700-1100 range. I've been looking at different laptops and everything under $700 seems to be lacking in a large array of areas. I've heard the MSI laptops are good and I've read numerous horror stories about the Y-series laptops. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I have MSI GT60 with GTX870M it is bulky but solid. It is over your budget though but you will hear horror stories about everything once in awhile.

Thanks for the suggestion rolli. I ended up going with the ASUS ROG GL551 Series GL551JM-EH74 gaming laptop. I've read nothing but great reviews over the overall quality. I opted for the 256GB SSD since I have dozens of drives laying around not being used.

That is a good choice, saw it and thought about linking it.
