@figgus

Finally someone who understands somewhat about what actually happened. These protesters are childish and wasting their time. The brunt of the responsibilty went to the politicians pushing the affordable housing act and the rating agencies who completely messed up at their jobs but you don't see protests infront of their offices. Wallstreet and the banks are always a easy martyr. You sh

Let's say they somehow manage to stop all stock trading on the NYSE and NASDAQ for a few months by setting up blockades on Wall Street. Who would really be hurt?

Retired people with modest retirement plans, invested in mutual funds or individual stocks, won't be able to sell investments and pay for food/rent/electricity/medical emergencies.

Companies may have to lay off employees or delay plans to hire if they can't raise capital to pay salaries.

People earning 50 million dollars (and paying 10 million in taxes) will earn only 40 million (and pay 8 million in taxes). Result: these people can still buy their Porsche or their mansions, etc, but there's $2 million less in taxes that could have fed a bunch of poor kids.

I wish all these people who hate corporations and capitalism in general would spend a decade or two in Cuba or North Korea. Or talk to somebody who grew up in Eastern Europe before the fall of communism. Capitalism may stink, but the alternative is much worse.

Some kids are about to learn fighting the power is a lot harder in reality than it is from a comfy arm chair. Especially when the riot cops show up.

Rage against the machine tried to do this exact same thing in the 90's, all they accomplished was getting the NYSE front door locked for.... 20 minuets.

I still fail to see what freedom they want. In quite a lot of revolutions/civil wars in the past few centuries, those revolting cried for justice and equality, but never really defined what it was. It was great for inciting a crowd to kill a bunch of ppl (often ppl with land or money, such as in the French Revolution, Mexican Revolution, and the one in S.E. Asia in the country I forgot the name of where they killed millions for the reason that they had money). I'm not too sure I like their freedom and justice.

I guess it makes ppl feel good to take down an evil corporation for always wanting more (like the avg person, apparently). If you're not satisfied with your wages, you can always go somewhere else or start your own business. At least in America.

It's pretty sad how so few of the people reading a technology site seem to have any clue about the past of one of the most influential internet based protest groups beyond the last year or so. "Anonymous" has already taken to physical protest before, including a very successful campaign against Scientology. It doesn't matter if they get arrested because the entire point of a protest is to draw attention to your stance on an issue. Tear gas and tasers are a protester's best friend, because the more chaotic the scene is the more likely it's going to be on national news.

Is it going to change much? Well, really, when has this kind of protesting ever changed anything? But I sure do see a lot of people judging or dismissing their actions. Remind me again what you've done to change anything. The very cancer that's killing this country is the fact that Americans complain about everything and do nothing. If this protest ends up being futile it's because people are too lazy or scared to actually attempt bringing about change. The fact U.S. media is controlled by partisan liars that spin the story in their favor doesn't help matters either. Until you're out making something happen, I fail to see how anyone here is in any position to call their efforts wrong. If you think they should be protesting in D.C., why aren't YOU out there protesting in D.C? If you think that Wall Street should be hacked, why aren't YOU hacking it? If you think their actions are incorrect, why aren't YOU taking the correct action?

This is so stupid... As if If a bunch of teenagers and young adults simply protesting is going to "end the corruption" in all off Americas market and private enterprises... What do they hope to accomplish? They say it's a non-violent protest.. but have they ever heard of tear gas? I doubt the cops and city will let them hault up commerce and trade for more then five minutes without just ordering the cops to get physical. As they should.

There is a correct action to deal with DC, it's called voting. It's also called making sure I'm informed and informing other people of the reality of the situation on not the slanted diatribe the media likes to spew.

if anybody actually does this, i'm going to laugh because city residents will tear them to pieces if not cut the brake lines on some fuel tankers headed in the direction of the protests.
everybody knows how when some one robs a bank the cops the fbi and secret service are all over it in 10 minutes or less?
guess what is going to happen to these poor fools who get in the way of george soros and warren buffets brokers. these people will be lucky to have law enforcement haul them off before the mob shreds every last piece of DNA in these protesters bodies.

[citation][nom]COLGeek[/nom]Great! Show up so you will no longer be Anonymous. Makes it easier for the authorities to identify these guys.....not the smartest move.[/citation]
I've heard Anon will not be present. They want the people to do it.

Yes, because the secret service's job is to stop bank robbers. Not protect the president. Hurrrr

This protest is in the rightish spot. Where it need to be is in the entrence to a corps global hq. Like most phamrasuticals band major banks. Make sure you get the permits first then get about 20 firends to make a hobo town right int the middle of the entrance.
