I've just purchased a Nikon Coolpix 4800 and overall have rave reviews
about it, especially the macro lens that lets me get as close as 1cm
from an object.

The only problem thus far that I've encountered is a rythmic clicking
noise when I playback videos either on the camera or on my computer.
I did some troubleshooting to try and figure out if it was the strap
clip hitting the side of the camera, but it is definitely not. My
fingers are not close to the microphone, and the problem is apparent
in various conditions from very windy to inside the house.

Additionally, I have found the sound is out a frame or two.

Has anyone else encountered the same problems?

I'll bet you have the camera set to continuous AF. Set it to single AF and
the clicking noise should be gone.
