Nikon d300 vs d3400

Have a hand me down nikon d 300, find it heavy awkward, thinking of getting nikon d3400, good idea ?

Yes, get the d3400. It is better than d300, like effective pixels (Megapixels) 24.2 mp vs 12 mp ( d300), newer gen camera, can take 1080p video, ISO 100 - 25600 vs ISO 200 - 3200 (d300), bluetooth vs none (d300), etc.
