i forgot to add, nintendo will release a new console and will have not only hd capability but other stuff. nintendo will release a new console only when the current console has become a problem for making new stuff for people to experience and play.

Wow, some of these comments amaze me. Use your damn brains people. We are already 3-4 years into this generation of consoles. It wouldn't make any business sense for Nintendo to release an HD version of the Wii. The reasons are simple. For the people that own a Wii, HD is obviously not a major concern for them. For the people who DO care about HD, they probably already have Xboxs or PS3s. Introducing an HD Wii will gain them very little while adding considerable costs associated with having multiple versions and then maintaining compatibility with both platforms. They are better off letting the Wii ride its course for this generation and introduce HD with the next generation.

Nintendo will never update the Wii on a hardware level to include HD capability.

Nintendo have a single generational development policy in place for all console ouput. This simply states that the company can focus all it's current resources on the current generation device. They do not "update" console hardware. They do sometimes (twice in history) update port. gaming hardware (GameBoy, DS/i) depending on market demand.

It is for this reason, as much as the massive sales in the current generation that there will simply be no Wii HD. And that is all there is to it.

The persistence of the Wii HD rumor stems from the larger problem of reporting analyst opinion as news. The X360 Slims, the Wii HDs, the PS3 outselling them all 'next year, maybe next, maybe then, maybe next year' is getting a little old.

I understand, honestly I do. Because analysts claim to quote 'industry insiders' they have a story, a source, and therefor it appears to be news. Lets get a grip here and call an opinion an opinion, because what an analyst has to say comes off no less idiotic than when it comes from one of us, the unwashed masses.

Years ago Tom made a triumphant announcement in which they stated they were no longer joining the other websites in wetting themselves over another video card chipset's paper launch. They were so high-and-mighty, they were so righteous, and it's time to extend the same courteousy to 'Analyst Predictions'. Enough already.

I've got a Wii as a family entertain system, my serious gaming is all made in my PC, which is the only way to go...
I don't miss HD on the wii because it simply doesn't need it...
I've played MW2 on PC and can say after playing a little on a 360 in a store that HD my ass... the graphics detail of the 360 compared to the pc are crap... it seemed like I was playing a 3-4 year old game graphics wise in the 360, not to mention the sucky controls... FPS in a gamepad, not very bright idea!!! IMO

3D is where R&D is going everywhere. HD is last-gen.

DS.Next will have stereo cameras for 3D capture.
