[citation][nom]mlopinto2k1[/nom]Hmmm, you really think there are the same amount of people buying consoles that are buying consoles?[/citation]I meant video cards! Doh!

90 percent of what consumers want, I doubt it. 90 percent probably want the PS3 but couldn't afford it so settled for a Wii. Now that the PS3 is only $99 more, i think the future of the Wii and 360 are in serious trouble. My guess is this is the begining of a huge following of the PS2 and the end of the Wii
attack.

If you think this is bad you should have been here during the AMD/ATi merger a few years ago...

The last console I purchased was a used SNES for $100. After that it was building PCs; faster hardware/software upgrades and all that. After playing a Wii at a friends house, guess what my wife will be getting for her birthday? Fact is as much as I hated the system concept I love playing the damn thing. And will more then likely end up enjoying the system more the my wife who has begged for one for like 2 years.

The Wii nails its market the novice/casual/family "gamer", hell even my mom wants one, Nintendo knew going in that Sony and MS had an amazing hold on the hardcore/normal gamer. So they developed a system that appealed to an untapped but large market. The drop in profits shows a slow down due to over saturation of the market not the failings of a product line. The price drop to $199 will bolster it's sales to value minded buyers, and skeptics who didn't want to dish out $250 but will consider it at $200.

Q4 will look a lot better trust me.

Yeah, but those are your friends. Unless you have 50,000,000 friends, that logic is no good.

[citation][nom]rooket[/nom]90% of my friends play xbox360 and ps3. The other 10% is just those who have all 3 systems.[/citation]

I have one of these....why only a component out.it may be 480p but component out is in analog and not a digital signal.....looks like crap at best on all of my HD TV's......
mine in only 6 months old but you would think they would implement an HDMI port for a better picture.

The reduction in profit shouldn't be a surprise really, there is a thing called saturation point, the Wii has been very popular and successful at what it does, irrespective of whether you like them or not.

It caters to the casual players and groups, they used a clever concept, and marketed it well, but those people that like the Wii pretty much have one now, so the reduction in cost coupled with lower demand is bound to affect profits. Then on top of that we have had a recession (which still affects most of us)meaning people are buying less games.

Nintendo are highly unlikely to go bust any time soon :) the lowering sales wont give Microsoft or Sony any particular advantage over the Wii, they still have a huge market share which will continue to grow albeit more slowly from now on.

And before you accuse me of bias, i game on a PC and don't use any console 😛

772 Million is still alot of cash. Only wish I had some foresite and bought stock when they were under 30 bucks a share and sold when it went up to 70. But I digress.

Personally I don't like the Wii because I'm more a single player gamer (I prefer online games too). The only game I would probably get is the Zelda games but the Wii seems to be more novelty games like the iPhone or cellphone games in general.

[citation][nom]Theomega[/nom]I love how people like Rooket still believe that superior hardware = better/funner games.[/citation]

Is 'funner' even a real word? lol. I have had more hours of enjoyment out of xbox360 games than I have on wii.

And for those of you wondering, yes I do own a wii and I don't really think it is that good of a piece of hardware. If you want something fun and reliable, PS3 is the way to go. I'm more into xbox360 although it has that RROD problem. No biggie though, shell out another $160 and you get a Jasper so oh well... Wii still costs more than an xbox360 which is insane since it doesn't cost as much to manufacture and does not even support HD or native DVD movie playing support nor an abundance more features and online downloadable content that would take several pages for me to list.

Ever wonder why there's not a strong 1st party support on the Wii nor very much offered online to purchase to download? Everyone giving me like -'s are fanboys just reading this because it says "Wii" in the title. I own plenty of Nintendo consoles and Wii isn't that impressive of a system.
