I would certainly prefer an Android tablet over the iPad, but I am with Jobs here. 7 inches is too small and not that much bigger than my 4" Galaxy S phone. Give me a 10-inch Android tablet for comparable price as an iPad, and I'll be excited.

Bah, $500 is still way too much, especially for a wifi only version.

Look at the Archos 101. Note that there is already a working market hack, so you DO get the full marketplace. It also costs a lot less than the iPad. Also, 7" is plenty, trust me.

it's like the tab market is TRYING to fail on purpose...

$500 for 7" device and only plus is that it has Android 2.2 OS...

when is Archos 10 1 pad going to come out?

it doesn't support Google Apps but at least it's $350 at 10" size...

>> You won't be getting one from Apple, especially after the nasty things Steve Jobs said about seven inches not being big enough for a good experience.

That's what she said!

Hmmm $500 for a 7" tablet or $500 for a 10" tablet. No brainer. DOA

I think it needs to be around $300-350 to compete with the iPad. And with the smaller screen that should be possible.

But wait, is the $500 the MSRP? If so then street price might be about $350.

Mifi makes built in 3G unnecessary, even expensive or unpractical for some. I've got a laptop, Smartphone, & desktops at home. I have a Mifi that I can use for everything, but choose to have a Mifi & wired broadband, because my desktops are on 24/7, even when 4G comes out, I'll still have a Mifi & wired broadband. But this still saves me money instead of using 3G on my Smartphone & laptop. So "if" I do get a touchpad or portable mediaplayer with wifi, I'll still have flexibility & only pay for the mobile broadband of my Mifi.

I have a question I need answered? What justification is there for Samsung to charge $499 for the Galaxy WiFi, when Archos are on the verge of launching the Archos 101 Internet Tablet, also running Android but with a 10" display, and HDMI output and USB ports for only $299?

i had a archos 5 and i installed google apps on it, so i don't see very difficult to install google apps on an archos 10.

Some of you don't understand how manufacturing works on these devices. It doesn't matter if the screen is 7 inches, 10 inches, 4 inches, or 3 inches the screen size isn't determining the price of the device the component size (smaller costs more) and quality are what determine the cost of the device. In reality a 10 inch device has the potential to cost less than a 7 inch device because it can have more space for components.

I looked at the Galaxy Tab in best buy yesterday, it was impressive, but too small, especially for the price. And it may be cheaper to manufacture with a larger screen, but let's face it, smaller is not better to people. It may have been when cellphones started coming out, but bigger is better when it comes to entertainment, and that's probably the predominant market for these products. Don't quote me, but bigger is better when it comes to entertainment... just look at IMAX theaters.
