no 5.1 out

i have a tv with Toslink out(digital output) and i have home theater system with RCA Input only, but this home theater has 5 speaker out 5.1 surround sound, what adapter do i need en order to listen surround sound, when my receiver only has RCA analog Input, you know i like to watch Neflix or Vudu online that send you 5.1 surround sound, my tv has digital input out, but home theater analog rca, but has 5.1 surround sound connected 5 speaker out. can you help me please?.

Panasonic SA HT 930 Home Theater System surround Sound 5.1 Speaker out, but has only RCA Analog input. My tv has Digital out Toslink output, my Blu Ray DVD has else Digital out put and that is the way where i get signal from neflix, but my receiver has only RCA input and i want to have Surround sound, because is capable to get out 5.1, Has 5 speaker out including a big subwoofer.

as far as i can tell from http://service.us.panasonic.com/OPERMANPDF/SAHT730.PDF page 32 of your manual you only have red and white (L/R) audio inputs as well as zero hdmi, zero optical and zero coax. it also looks like the set doesnt support ARC (audio return channel).

basically... this means that you can only get left/right sound out of any additional equipment you hook up to your home theater in a box set and you can get surround sound only out of items which were included in the set such as the dvd/br player which comes with it.

to be frank though.. most of the content you could possibly pull from the television is going to be stereo only. even if you were streaming netflix on a smart television i do believe most netflix is still stereo only sound so having 5.1 support would do little.

if you want true surround sound support you would need a different receiver (however, since your tv audio is likely to be stereo only i dont see how this would help you unless you intend to connect other sources such as game systems, different dvd players, a computer, etceter).

Thanks for your replay, i have the Digital TOSLink To Analog RCA Audio converter, the one you mention in your replay, that i got from Amazon, but only give me stereo output, my Panasonic tv has else analog output too, but i need the surround sound, because has Digital output, even my Panasonic Home Theater Receiver give me Surround sound out, but when only play DVD or music, but if attach some device on rear panel like tv, dvr, Netflix, or my tv digital TOSLink out, only i get 2.1 stereo channel, even my tv is digital and my blu ray is coaxial, my $549,00 usd Home Theater system can not give me surround sound, hard to say that. I think the only way to have 5.1 is to buy a New Home Theater System, uuuffff!!!! i do not know how a lot people can have 5.1 with only simple adapter, digital toslink to rca out and they can have surround sound, i saw the review in Amazon site. the reason why you do not get surround sound from other sources is because your receiver does not support surround sound input.

home theater in a box (HTIB) are known to be very lackluster when it comes to having good connections for other sources. even some newer models which support hdmi input have been known to only have 2.0/2.1 support.

this is why i do not recommend HTIB sets.

i agree, for $550 you shouldnt have had to deal with only RCA inputs. quite frankly for $60
0 (usd in the usa only) as of this moment you could have the energy take 5.1 speakers paired up with a basic receiver and had many times the connectors and true surround sound support through various formats as well as a very impressive set of speakers which are better than most HTIB sets. however, you dont and i'm not sure how old your home theater set is so likely its not brand new where you could exchange it.

you could use a regular standalone receiver with your current speakers which would only set you back about $200.

however... and i'll bold this just to be sure you read this..

most streaming content is 2.0/2.1 only and not surround. upgrading to a surround capable setup is not going to improve this. before you think about any sort of upgrades please verify that netflix or whatever source you want to be in surround is broadcast in surround or you will be wasting your money

Well, let me tell you, i have a Nice Sound even with 2 channel, some time i can listen even more nice my Home Theater the a Surround Model, i have a Bass with 360 RMS, But like i saw lot people using surround sound i will like to have one, but i saw the new Home Theater, only coming with 150 watts RMS, Bass,Half then my system, ummm, i watch VUDU Video, they send me signal in HDX, in my system sound is amazing, but i will like to try 5.1,,,,,,,, people say sound is better, maybe i keep my system, Amazon Prime Video sound is amazing too in my 2.1 channel, i go to visit my friends that have surround sound, if the sound is little better, i will buy a new home theater system, even the new system look like toy and not power like the one i have, but if the sound is not much better, i will keep my system, because is a Real Powerful Home Theater System.

again, if you want surround sound inputs and to not be limited to stereo inputs and want to keep your speakers i would get a new receiver.

we purchased this one http://www.amazon.com/Sony-STR-DH740-Channel-Receiver-Black/dp/B00BHC7ZTE about 6-7 months ago when it was on sale at best buy for only $200 and while its not a top of the line model by far it certainly has enough inputs. something like that (or a different model if you so wish) will hook right up to your speakers so that you can continue to enjoy the speakers you have already.

you might even manage to find a cheaper receiver... but typically $200 is as cheap as they normally go.
