no accesss to a jat file

old computer java is fine no issues opening and reading cd'S Now on my alienware I get an error message not able to access jarfile

Need some details here, what program are you talking about? Need full details about what happens and when. What do CDs have to do with this java error?

Open "Command Prompt", and type "java". If you get screenful of Java options, you have Java runtime installed, and your problem is elsewhere. But if you get only "Java is not recognized as an internal or external command...", then head of to Oracle, download Java runtime, and try again your app. You might have to adjust some settings from Java Control Center, especially if there is network access.
