No mic with skype

Hi,
im wanting to make Skype calls to my friends I have some Samsung headphones that have a built in mic and I connect it to my pc but I cant talk throught the mic and my buddy cant hear me. Im assuming its because of my crap headphones. Note: Skype says that it cant detect a sound card. If I just got cheap turtle beaches x12's would they work fine? halp. thanks. answers are appreciated.

I'm assuming your headphones have both a headphones and mic connector? The problem may lie somehwere, maybe the port the headphones are connected it.

no just a headphone connector im assuming I shouldn't try to use headphones that were made for phones..

If it's a headphone for a phone than you could buy a mic/audio splitter, or you can go with your plan B.

I actually never thought of that. Good idea. I think I will just chip in 30-40 dollars for a headset.
