no screen from laptop to tv

i have a hp laptop with win 10 on it and i have connected an hdmi cable to my tv. i expected that it will automatically display my stuff from my laptop on tv but nothing. tv keeps saying : no signal".
i looked it up on google and everyone says i have to go to the resolution and display settings and select the second screen. only i have no second screen. just 1. i have no other options to select a second screen.
the cable is new and it works fine with other devices but from my laptop to tv, nothing. like i didnt pug in anything.

try fn + f4

or fn + f5

or fn + whichever f key you see a screen icon on

these combinations toggle it from laptop screen to external screen to both screens

can also usually set it in the bios as well

not working. none of them. its like it doesnt even recognize that its connected to the tv. also, i cant even enter bios. i just see the hp logo, after that loading it goes right away to win.

did you try selecting input/source on the tv in case it doesnt automatically switch to it?

of course. it just keeps telling me "no signal". i have plugged it in HDMI 1. the tv is a brand i have never heard of. its a soniq. was given from my parents.

have you tested that it does work on a different tv?

the cable works fine on other devices. i even tried my HDMI cable which i use for my PC and its still not working. i still think it has something to do with my laptop, if not even win 10 its self for not recognizing that its plugged in to something.
