No signal input

I am trying to hook up my DAV-TZ140 home theatre system to my HP w2207 computer monitor. I purchased a HDMI cable and a HDMI to DVD adapter. I am getting "No Input Signal" on my monitor when I hook it up and try to play a DVD. What am I missing?

If your monitor doesn't have HDCP on its DVI input (or it's DVI-D) then you won't get a picture.
