no sound when hooking a philips dvd player to an element tv

Great picture but no sound wit
h a hdmi hook up from dvd player to tv

Try a different HDMI input. Does this happen with any DVD you tried? Some older HDMI specs have issues with connections, I had a Sony HDMI tube HD set that would play audio but no video through HDMI.
