My friends daughter knocked her Nook off the table while it was plugged in and charging. It has one of those 30 pin charging ports. When I plugged it in to the charger, the light at the charging port on the Nook would start green, then flash amber then change to flashing red. If I plugged it in to my computer, the computer would not see that anything had been plugged in and the lights would do the same thing. Green for a second, then flashing amber and then flashing red. I made an account at Barnes and Noble and chatted with someone and was advised that the USB Cable needed to be replaced. I bought a new one and it fits much tighter. When I plugged it into the wall the light would flash green and then change to flashing amber. No red with the new cable unless I hold the power and N buttons. If I hold the power button, nothing happened. If I held the power and N button the lights reverted back to the original, green, amber and then red. I opened it up and removed the battery and plugged it into the wall outlet and I get the exact same light sequence. I plugged it into the computer and still get the same light sequence. The only difference is that the computer 'sees' the new cable connection but it goes back and forth from something being plugged in, to something being unplugged. We then bought a different motherboard. The only difference in motherboards is one of the chips. The original motherboard had a Samsung and the replacement has a Toshiba. No matter which motherboard is installed, the light sequence remains the same both with and without the battery installed. With the battery and without the battery, if it's plugged in to the wall or computer, about every 9 or 10 seconds the word NOOK will flash on the screen for a second and then go away. We thought about replacing the battery, but if it doesn't do anything while it's plugged into the wall, then that seems like a waste of money. Anybody have any ideas? I'm lost at this point.
