Not all that impressed? ATH-M50 phones

I bought a set of these after reading numerous rave reviews about them but honestly
after trying them through my home stereo system and pc for gaming and even my old Sony discman with bassboost that always sounded great with phones i really am not all that impressed with the ATH M50 set? they dont have the deep bass punch i like and sound kind of flat to me
like a EQ is set to 5 across the board?
I can return these but what to go to next?
Is the beyerdynamic or sennheiser sets better sounding?
I like a tight punching bass end with nice crisp highs and just enough mids to make it sound full and not hollow or boxy.

I guess i am the ODD man out because even in the most recent reviews these ATH M50's are said to be the best for under $200???
