Not responding, 2 mins later it works

so i bought a used laptop from a forum i visit. it was only $200 and nothing listed as wrong or problematic so i chanced it.

its a gateway SA1

the problem:
i can be sitting here viewing the internet and it will stop responding. after about a minute and a half or 2 mins it will kick back in and i can finish whatever i was doing.

i can be typing a word document and it will do the same thing.

ive tried fresh install of xp, and windows 7 and it still does it.

ideas thoughts suggestions?

is this delay ram related or cpu related?

Yes, IMHO you'd better go to a repair shop. It's difficult to answer what is wrong there by the forum.
