These are the 2 laptops I'm looking at:
Acer (i7-4510U / 1 TB HDD / 8 GB RAM / GeForce 840M)
HP (i5-5200U / 750 GB hybrid drive with 8 GB SSD / 8 GB RAM / GeForce 830M)
So from what I've researched the 4th gen i7 will outperform the 5th gen i5 by a bit and the 840M is slightly better than the 830M. Overall are these 2 laptops pretty comparable?
I think what I'm most curious about is whether I should go for the standard hard drive or the hybrid. Do you think I would see a noticeable difference in boot times with the hybrid? Do I get the hybrid at the expense of a slightly slower CPU and GPU?
I plan on some casual gaming such as Call of Duty Ghosts & Far Cry 4 (I'd be fine with medium graphics). Not worried about running future games a whole lot.
My main goal is having a laptop that will server me well for 3-5 years.
Thanks.
