Notebook not charging

The AC adapter was very loose on my notebook and has now stopped charging. I have tried holding the lead in position, sometimes the light on the notebook comes on, it will charge for about 10 seconds then goes off. My notebook is now dead. Can I buy a new AC adapter or is there anyway I can check it's not another priblem

take it to a repair shop and test with another adapter. If it works, buy the adapter.

And if it doesn't work with another adapter, it's the power-jack on your notebook that needs repairing/replacing.
