Num pad doesn't work for numbers

The numpad on my dell 17 7000 doesn't function as numbers but the keys do things they are suppose to do in games. I think this has something to do with the numlock but when I press it the light turns on and off and make a beeping noise like it should. Anyone have any clue on how to fix?

I've never heard of only the numbers not working. Does the num lock key press all the way down?

yes the num lock presses all the waydown
it beeps like it does when on and off just like the cap lock
