I am using Microsoft Excel, and I am trying to put a list. When I type "1." in the A1 cell, it will go to "1" How do I creat a list under Excel.

I had a class on this last year so I figured I'd know this one but the more I think about it, I don't think we ever made a list with number headings in each cell. Found this though :

" List constraints
Note that individual list entries can contain up to 255 characters and that each custom list is limited to 1,738 characters. In addition, Excel will ignore entries consisting of numbers, error values, and formulas."

If I am understanding your question correctly, I think you are asking this: for example A1 = 1, A2 = 2, A3 = 3,... and so on as numbering pertains.

Then if this is what you mean, try this: lets say you want to number A1 - A50, and you have 1, 2, 3, started already, then starting with, A3 (#3) highlight it through A50. Now on the menu bar, click Edit/Fill/Series, select (series in) either Row/Column, then (type) Linear <font color=red>most likely type</font color=red>, then click "OK".

If this doesn't answers your question let me know, otherwise, I have totally misunderstood. Hope this helps.

Thanks It work. But now, how do I enter a period after each number. For example, 1. 2. 3. 4.
It seem to take out the period automatically

On the menu bar click <b>Format/Style</b>, then click the <b>Modify...</b> button. Now manually type in the white space <b><font color=red>0.</b></font color=red>, then click '<b>OK</b>', '<b>OK</b>'.

Now perform the above same thing as mentioned in my above post. I glad to be of help my friend.
