Numbers not appearing on laptop

Hello,
i just bought a Sony Vaio laptop & installed it. when I type the numbers (the top second row) all I get is the special caracters written on the number keys which otherwise should appear only when I use the numbers keys with Shift key.
The second problem is that when the caps is "ON" i get small characters & when the Cap is "OFF" i get capital letters.

Check to make sure that your Keyboard is set to United States Internation and that your location is correct.

sounds like one of the two SHIFT keys is stuck
