Numpad in Keyboard typing multiple character in single press

I have Dell Inspiron 3537 model with inbuild keyboard with numpad (Windows 10). A couple of keys malfunction typing single character enters two charracters like if I press '.' then it shows '.+' and '-6' instead of just 6.'Up' 'Down' arrow key scrolling is not smooth. Its kind of irritating.

Does it do the same thing with an external keyboard? If not, make sure the keyboard is clean, try reseating the connector. If that does not work, try a new keyboard.
