nvidia problem with 60 fps

So a week ago i played outlast on my gtx 850m at low with 30 fps ...today i got a weird frame rate ....60 fps on ultra (no vsync).
This is not the first time ,the second time was in Wolfenstein: The New Order i played on low with 30-50 fps ,but today for 1h i played at medium at 60.

Can someone can tell me what happened and how can i go back to 60 because now i am playing at 30 again ..

Did the game actually perform and look better, or was it just the fps number that was different?

No not only fps ...i played outlast on ultra and Wolfenstein: The New Order on medium and they looked much better

Well, it might be Nvidia Optimus, try to select your GPU as the default in the nvidia control panel.

Honestly, I'm at a loss. I've heard of anything like that before, and it doesn't make any sense. Benchmarks for the 850M and Wolfenstein at Ultra settings shows 29 fps.

Playing it at medium with 60 fps is normal. Monitor your temperatures and make sure your laptop isn't overheating. Also, keep your drivers up to date.
