Silverlight is excellent from the viewpoint of the developer - I really hope it does succeed.

"Friday Microsoft reported that..." - Who is this company called 'Friday Microsoft'?... Honestly, what is so hard about writing decent English?! (eg 'On Friday, Microsoft reported...'). Sadly this seems to be a growing trend of total disregard for correct grammar.

No matter how much work Microsoft does on Silverlight, they won't have the seemless interaction with Illustrator and Photoshop that Flash now enjoys. Also, while Microsoft is working on it's 2D version of Flash MX, Flash is jumping into the world of 3D and better interaction with CSS. All I can say to Microsoft, is good luck catching up.

And it streamed it absolutely terribly. I ended up using the flash based client on CNN and it ran like glass.
