Only really need MS Word personally. For everything else, I use OpenOffice. Yes, I could use OpenOffice to replace word, however, I'm addicted to the new features (new Text effects, etc) in Word 2010.

MS Power point is another reason I use office. It is miles beyond open office in the amount of features. Same with MS Word. Luckily I'm not needing to do as many Power points in college

I really appreciate the improved startup time in 2010, along with streamlined look and feel. If anything I think it's worth the upgrade.

I am a beta tester and I really like all the new features from sharing and the ease of use. I just hope that college students get a good discount from the retail price. Office 2007 was selling at my college for only $60 a few months ago. And OpenOffice doesnt work for me because all I do is Powerpoint Presentations and Word, and OpenOffice has a really annoying Auto-numbering and Auto-Correct and Auto-indent that gets on my nerves easily.

[citation][nom]otacon72[/nom]I was a beta tester for Office 2010 and I don't see any reason to upgrade from 2007 for a long time. I will someday but it's not a high on my to do list.[/citation]
That is true assuming you don't use a lot of the new features. For example, I am currently addicted to the new Text Effect in 2010.
