Another day, another anti-Apple article on Tom's. Of course Apple blocked this game; it has a mini-game where you try to catch workers committing suicide. It's a tasteless (though amusing) game intended to troll and nothing else.

I noticed you guys conveniently ignored the news (that every other site covered) about the Droid Bionic making a high-pitched noise when you use the headphone jack. If it was an Apple product with this issue, it would have been posted (and trolled) instantly.

Would it be too much to ask for some genuine news articles? You know, something useful like Bulldozer benchmarks instead of troll-bait articles about Apple? Please?

[citation][nom]glasssplinter[/nom]How many of these suicides took place at their place of work though? That's the big question and why this has drawn more reporting.[/citation]

People who live where they work also commit suicide where they work. Nothing unusual about that.

The sad part is that working conditions and wages at Foxconn are probably pretty good by Chinese standards.

weaselsquisher: You're right. The problem with your idiotic rant is that Android and the entire PC ecosystem aren't even going to ATTEMPT to censor it the way Apple is.

That, my friend, is the point.

As much as I cant stand Apple, I must say it's incredible how the Chinese Government and the company (FOXCONN) get a free pass when it's their responsibility! Apple is their customer!

Uh huh. And how many of you are posting your angry little fanboi rants on products made by Foxconn or another company that employs similar slave-labor tactics? The answer would be all of you.

As the game itself says with the minerals part which is 100% true. We all aid such awful things even if we are unaware of it. This does not mean people should not be upset or against it like you suggest however. I find your lack of humanity quite disturbing really.
Are you saying that you openly and fully support the mistreatment of human beings?
Even to the extreme?

Also, FYI it doesn't take to be a fan-boy to be appalled and express ones discontent.
Just because one may not like the entire process used to make a iPhone does not mean
they are heavy supporters of another company. A person is not limited to one extreme or another.

[citation][nom]weaselsmasher[/nom]And of course YOUR PCs and Android phones (yes, YOURS) are "more socially responsible"... have no FoxConn components... and non-Foxconn Chinese factories are better, and more closely supervised... and the manufacturers make more accurate claims than Apple...Oh, wait. None of the above are true.If there is a problem which consumers must be held responsible for, I guarantee Android and PC owners are exactly as liable as Apple owners. That means YOU, dear reader. YOU, personally, have exactly as much blood on your hands, and the anti-Apple screed is just a chain of lies and hypocrisy.[/citation]

[citation][nom]stingertja[/nom]I would say that you have a point, but there is one problem with your statement and that is Apple has the highest profit margin of any consumer electronics company in the world whether you are talking about computers or Ipod/Iphones[/citation]

Now let me continue my thought. (Damn work gets in the way of everything)

Apple is the biggest douchebag company in the tech industry, they could produce all of there products in the U.S. and still make over 50% profit. People will say well every other company could do the same thing and this is not try by a long shot. The phase "Apple tax" is just not a saying its the truth. If you wish to buy Apple products that's fine but don't believe that the product you pay more for is because it cost more to produce, you pay more for it because Apple charges you more and you pay it.
If Apple was a moral company it could easily ensure that the workers in the division of Foxconn that produce its products receive more money than any other workers and still make more profit on there products than any other company but they don't because they are greedy.

Apple is the worst offender of any other company because it has the power to change this type slave labor and still be very profitable but it doesn't. To any and all Apple fans, just face the fact that Apple does not care about anything other than there own bottom line and anytime you buy one of there products you contribute to there greed.

A product being good value is not measured on what it costs to produce vs what it's sold for. A product being good value is defined by there being no cheaper alternatives with the same quality. For example, you could never buy the parts Apple buys at the prices Apple buys them for, and you wouldn't have a clue how to properly engineer them into a working system, and that working system wouldn't have the warranty the Apple one does.

As it happens, on the true measure of value, Apple is often expensive, eg there are cheaper phone alternatives, etc but I believe there is no product which matches the full specifications of the macbook air for less, so that is a product which represents excellent value for money.

Even the phone sells out regardless so obviously the market feels it's good value, rather than 'a tax'.

Don't know about you, but when does a game that makes light of suicide (in a cheerfully post-modern way, of course) become worthy of praise. As for Foxconn, the echo chamber of 100s of articles evincing little or no actual knowledge about China, no context, and no comparative insight into life there would be pathetic (reminiscent of North Korean propaganda films about starving Americans and random gun death, all of it factually true, mind you) if it were not so embarrassing. For a bit of real journalism about Foxconn, why not try try this article by a Japanese news agency (in English). The worker the author interviewed works hard, enjoys his privacy, has money to spend on past-times and enjoys a variety of choices in life. But non one will want to make a game about his life. It's not fantastical enough. http://www.asahi.com/english/TKY201109190134.html

it may be true that there is nothing like a mac air but even so if ay pc comp were to make anything like it or if you go looking for a pc equivalent of a macbook pro that computer good sir would easily be in the range of a 1/4 to a 1/3 cheaper. and you defend the price because apple says its expensive because its quality but thats just them telling you that, so you blindly continue to buy their macbooks and needless yearly iphone updates to keep their wallets bulging. the reason apples last so long is all anyone can do with them is check facebook and photoshop pedobear into pictures whereas a large chunk of pc get thrashed in comparison. and even if the warranties on apples are overkill thats now a big selling point and just continues to suck in people with to much money and not enough brain cells to see their being ripped off in these bad times, which makes me wonder how much longer they will have all that disposable income.

i would just like to say after that rant that im not against apples stratagies for sales or the fact that their an alternative to MS im just unhappy that they charge rediculas prices for their products. they could be way cheaper and still have them making a nice bottom line.

phew that was alot, that should keep me good for a while

I hate to break it to you but a lot of the components on the boards you bought from MSI, ASUS or Biostar were made by Foxconn.. Its likely that all the sockets PCI, AGP, PCIe, CPU, etc on every motherboard you have ever bought was made by Foxconn..

I love how their policy prohibits donating to charity... guess apple doesn't like the thought of helping anyone other than their bottom line.
