Hi all,
I've had this question for a while.
I have a HP Pavillion dv6000 series notebook that's almost 3 years old. Now I need to use it for university, but the battery life is just close to zero (~15minutes). So I was considering to buy a new 12cell battery for it which is about $100 and will probably give it around 3 hours battery life.
But then I began to think about netbooks and laptops <=13.3". Like this:
http
/www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834220698
$400 and free shipping. Athlon Neo MV-40 1.60 Ghz, 12.1", 2GB RAM,HD3200 and 250GB HDD. Battery life is 6 hrs. Everything except the CPU (and screensize ofc) looks equal or better than my dv6000.
So here is the question: which is the better solution?
A)-Buy a high capacity batt. for the old laptop or
B)-Sell the old laptop and buy a new netbook
I'm pretty sure I can sell the dv6000 for $300+. So either way the cost is identical.
In fact, my only concern is the CPU. How is this Athlon Neo MV-40 1.60Ghz compare to the Athlon 64 X2 TL-58 1.90Ghz of my dv6000?
and is the Atom N450 1.60Ghz similar to the MV-40?
So if the netbook can actually outperform my dv6000, I will sell this old piece of junk and go for it 4 sure.
===========================updated=============================
my bottom line is that the netbook should be able to play high-def videos smoothly, like h.264 mpg4, or 720P/1080P YouTube videos.
Also it should run office softwares nicely, like running 3 MS Word files and 2 pdf files at the same time or something like that.
If a netbook can fulfill these tasks, I do not care to spend $400-500 on it.
Please leave your comments. Thanks.
