hello there,
i have just installed my new harddisk(after a sad burning incidence) and so follows a xp sp2 2002 built.the mobo has onboard sound device(which i suppose is from realtek).i am done installing all drivers except the sound ones which ironically fail to install.

ok.here is mah problem:WHEN THE COMPUTER BOOTS UP,IT IDENTIFIES THE SOUND DEVICE AS UNKOWN IN "device manager".
I HAVE TRIED ALL POSSIBLE THINGS(i mean ALL!!)..right from downloading latest sound drivers,KP fixes and all!!....EVERYTIME WINDOWS DETECTS NEW HARDWARE AND I INSTALL IT,IT EXTRACTS FILES AND SAYS "sound device's co-installer is invalid".....PLEASE HELP ANYONE....!!....WHAT DO I DO??? 🙁 🙁

Make sure you check which provider makes the onboard chipset; you assumed its a realtek, but it might be a C-Media (or SoundMAX...).

Whats you're mobo?
