Only in safe mode

Hi everyone, I have a Toshiba Satellite that I tried to connect to a TV with a HDMI cable and I mistakenly pressed the wrong button in the Screen Resolution screen and now it opens with a black screen unless in safe mode. I have tried altering the settings in screen resolution but the changes only work in safe mode and not when I reboot. Can anyone help? Thanks.

did you try a system restore to before you pressed the wrong button?

Hi there, yes, I did, but it made no difference. The only thing I can do is disable the video card which has kind of fixed it but the computer is now behaving very strangely and I have lost the sleep/hibernation options, which seems an odd side effect.

A: if yes disconnect TV from laptop, and reset the resolution before reconnecting TV.

Q: does your laptop have a dual display mode when using external HDMI monitor?
A: if yes, press the dual display (usually a combination of FN + key) and get it to display on blank TV and laptop monitor at same time, adjust resolution until TV displays your screen
