optical digital and analog play out of speakers and receiver but the sound is not in sync

I have gotten both optical digital and analog to play out of speakers and receiver with stereo mix on my PC but the sound is not in sync is there a way to fix this?

what sound system?

do you have post processing effects on?

does this occur with all programs?

my pc hardware is gigabyte P67A-UD4-B3-f8 with realtek ALC889
where do I find post processing effects? I have no sound effects if that's what you mean???

what receiver or speaker set?

by effects i mean either those found in your sound driver properties such as room echo, or room effects or those on your receiver if there are any.

also, does your receiver accept hdmi inputs? if so, have you tried using hdmi from pc to receiver?

It's a bose system and no hdmi (older model) and no sound effects are on

if at all possible hook either your computer up to a different pair of speakers or hook the sound system up to a different computer input.

this will isolate if it is being caused by the pc or if its something to do with the receiver.

It would help if you gave the model of receiver and speakers.

What are really trying to do exactly?

I'm a little confused. Are you trying to mix in optical and analog from your receiver to PC.

But what I'm guessing is happening, is that since optical has convert digital to analog and analog doesn't have to convert anything, that would be the delay.

Good advice for ssddx as usual but the speakers aren't at fault. All the speakers are doing is putting the signal given to them.

typically yes delay would be caused from trying to mix an input to the system through and output however the op did not state as such.

instead they stated that they are trying to play movies and all other sounds on the pc seem to be acting up. this is why i did not pursue it.. but good call that the op should definitely specify if they are trying to do that or not.

the reason i asked to test the speakers on a different system or the system with other speakers is in case there was speaker delay set on the receiver or some other feature which was delaying sound which the op might not realize

regardless, the more info we get the better able we can try to figure out what is causing the issue.
