Over ear headphones for Travel

I dont know if this site is the right place to ask but I dont really know any audio sites so here goes.

I work offshore on survey vessels and I need a pair of headphones principally for listening to music from my mp3 player and for my laptop.

Could someone suggest a pair that are:

Comfortable to wear for excessive lengths of time (a normal shift is 12hrs)

Isolating. Ships are noisy places.

Not noise canceling, I dont wana burn to death listening to sweet tunes because it muted the ships klaxon.

Reasonably robust. These things are gun be thrown in a rucksack or duffle-bag to be carted on and off planes potentially as either hold or hand luggage on a fairly regular basis. Naturally Ill do my best to pack em in but baggage handlers will be baggage handlers.
Stuff gets drop squashed and broken all the time.

Over-ear headphones only. I have these inner ear ones:

and I do like them but for extended usage like all inner ear headphones they make your ears generally uncomfortable.

No more than £150 really. If they do get broken by the aforementioned baggage handlers, I dont want to spend a month weeping over the small nation I could have purchased instead.

Any suggestion/advice would be welcomed!

i'd suggest a pair of audiotechnica ath-m50s

first of all they are foldable (which is nice for travel) however they are also pretty sturdy (thick cable, metal ends, the plastic used is pretty robust) and they sound good (often touted as as one of the best sounding headphones under $200-300)

i've had a pair for 3-4 years now and have hauled them back and forth in a backpack every day and they are still in excellent condition. i've even traveled with them a few times without any issues.

since they are over ear closed design they naturally shut out some external noise however not to the extent that you are unable to tell what is going on around you.

i've worn them for entire 9 hour shifts before although as with any closed headphone you may need to take them off once in awhile to cool your ears as they sweat a little. chances are you will need to get up and go to the bathroom or get up for some other reason anyways so its a non issue.

The M50X is actually up atm for the exact same price as the M50. As far as I can tell the old difference is more peripherals but I guys free cables are never to be sniffed at

the m50x is the new version.. i know they made the cable removeable and gave you all 3 options for cords but other than that i cant say what they changed. they look pretty similar to the m50s.

if you search youtube for "m50x vs dt770" you will see a video by sonicsense which gives you its sound profile (the dt770 is another good set but i didnt list it since its not foldable for travel)
