Try a repair install/keep my data and programs...

Or, give a so with Malwarebytes Antimalware....(you may have not gotten rid of everything)

WHat's your cpu usage, assuming no browser open, and all updates applied...?

Generally, as long as WIndows was activated, you have the option of doing a full reinstall, the classic 'wipe and reload' (lose everything on C:Drive) by dleting your WIndows partition, accessible by inserting Windows media, booting from it, selecting custom install.

was that a fluke that your disk usage showed 100%, or does it sit like that frequently? YOur hard drive might be failing (trying repeatedly to read data over and over, slowing down the system), but, you can at least swap SATA data cables with it powered completely off to rule out a loose/bad cable...

check health of hard drive with crytstaldiskinfo

(Use standard edition, the .exe)

It's not sitting on 100% anymore but to be more informational on whats going on is randomly stuff will just stop responding, it doesn't matter what app it is it just stops responding and eventually comes back. I ran a disk defragmentation and it doesn't seem to help any,
