PC stuck in boot up.

Hey, desperately need help.
I started up my ASUS win8 x64 laptop and there appeared a problem. Usualy windows shows that there's some mistake in the system and so on. But none was shown. I've tried alot, went into a bioslike menu by pressing f2 at the start of boot up, thought there would be a repair option but there weren't. After reading up on forums i have a fear of the hard drive being broken. Should i start panicking or is there a chance of me being wrong?
Also i sent a question to ASUS and still waiting for an answer.

I have a copy of all my data, year old but still... The problem persists.

If you dont have your important files backed up then yes, you should be very worried. Electronics can fail at any time and without any notice so you need to be prepared for that.

See if you can get your hands on a Win8 OS install CD use it and try to do a repair
