PCI-e Sound Card for Input and ATI Card HDMI output

Quick question. I want to set up a HTPC-based Karaoke system. Is it possible to take analog 3.5mm stereo input on a PCI-express sound card coming from the mic system and output sound via the video card's HDMI output. I would assume so, but I am away from home at the moment and can't do my own testing. Path would be 3.5mm analog input from mics to PCI-e soundcard - > postprocessing on card -> ATI 6350 HDMI -> Denon AVR for output. The denon has optical input for audio, but primarily this HTPC is used for Bluray mkv playback and I need HDMI audio.... so don't want to have to toggle audio settings on AVR everything I want to bounce between movies and karokee mic input in terms of audio source... since its same HDMI video source.

Thanks, would also take sound card recommendations... figured onboard audio sucks is reason for pci-e soundcard.

If I had to run karaoke on my PC, I would forgo the sound card and go with USB or Bluetooth microphones/headsets - remove as much of the very highly sensitive analog path as possible.

I already have these mics which are pretty nice... I needed them due to location of EQP (60+ft away at a min). I appreciate you taking the time to respond, but my question really wasn't what mic to use or whether I should have analog/digital input. I simply wanted to know about best way to get signal into the PC (win7 btw) and out via the Video Card HDMI.

In principle, your software should let you choose whichever input and output port(s) you want to use between all available input/output options once the hardware is installed correctly.

As for whether or not sound cards are any good for mics, that varies wildly. I personally haven't had much luck with those - that's why I use a USB headset for all my voice recording purposes.
